Friends
Hol. E. Moses.
I just went to USPS to mail two packages and do you know how much it cost?? $25. That’s right! “Dear Post Office: I know you’re broke, but please stop!”
Soooo…I’m not sure what that means for me. Only lightweight trades? Local trades? Only trades I really, really, really want to make?
Part of what I love about Rehash is the fun of taking a chance on what I’ll receive. Sure, sometimes I’ve gotten jeans when I couldn’t even afford to buy them at consignment/thrift (yeah: just TRY to buy my size at thrift…). But sometimes I’ve taken a chance on something that I probably wouldn’t pick out for myself, but hearing one of you gals describe it, or seeing how cute on you, and, well, yeah! For the price of postage, I’m in!
Call it “Fashion Gambling”, I guess.
But if postage rates keep going up (and I swear the small one price boxes are getting smaller!), then I’m going to have to re-think my strategy.
If anyone else is experiencing this phenomenon, leave me a message and tell me about it. How did you solve it?
Update on what I’m looking for, since several of you have been kind enough to ask: Always looking for gift cards to help stretch the ol’ budget. Dark-to-medium “premium” denim jeans in 25 (or sometimes 24). Paige, Citizens of Humanity, Lucky, some Joe’s Jeans, some 7 for all Mankind seem to fit best. Although, old-fashioned Levi’s are good by me, too! :-) Black cigarette twills in an ankle length, a la Audrey Hepburn. Probably a size 0, or 0L. Maybe a 1/2. Make me feel like a pretty girl! Si by Lolita Lempicka; Hermes; a few other unusual ones, like things by Odashi, Red Flower, MCMV etc. It’s usually hard to find.
Thanks for asking!
Hello. I’ve been with the Rehash Community for 4 years now. I try to pop by about once a week or so to check in
I like that Rehash is a community; I love trading stories that go with the clothes or jewelry, and I love knowing my things are going to a good home. If I were looking to make a buck or send my things off to some anonymous person, I’d just put my things on eBay! (And I do sell some items on eBay: money’s tight!)
%{color:purple}Looking forward to trading with you! ~Heather%
Original post, aka. Here’s How I Got Addicted to Rehash:I’ve cleaned out my life this year, folks. I got the paper off the floor, the clothing culled, the sewing projects finished (okay—almost; I’m still working there), the detritus…detrited.
I am eager to get rid of the things I have listed here still, so make me an offer. I just moved waaay too much stuff to DC, and I really want to get rid of what’s extra. Help a gal out!
My clothes are usually very small sizes, and I tend to be insanely good about taking care of my clothes (but I don’t iron. Unh-unh. Well, maybe just for you)
I used to be on MakeupAlley (deliriumhmc) so you can look up my ratings there, too, if you’d like. I found I was getting swaplifted way too often, though, and it didn’t have the ease of use or the community feel that Rehash does. So I don’t trade through that site any more.
I’ll trade for super tiny items. I’m trying to develop a little more of a unique “Heather” style, 86-ing anything that is no longer me, and acquiring the stylish, the unique, the well-made. And I need a few basics like a pair or 2 of jeans, and some “Audrey Hepburn” black trousers. too.
Also, would you believe I can’t find any black jelly bracelets in DC? I really want an armful, but I can’t find ‘em! I’ll trade you for them if you know where to get them…double points if you can find the smaller kids size!
I’m a pretty easy-going Rehash community member, I think. But I do like communication and for folks to do what they say they are going to do. I don’t mind if I have to wait for a trade, but I’d like to know it up front, you know?
I send out as soon as I can, in the condition described. And I’ll try to make it a nice package that makes your day (or at least your five minutes!) if I can. But forgive me if I make some awkward gaffe; I’m a perfectly nice human being, really.
Play nice out there, kiddies.
