Rehash Clothes Frequently Asked Questions
Rehashing, at its most basic definition, is a way to swap your clothes with others. To "Rehash" is to place an item (a Rehash) up for trade. Others can see your items and offer you their items in exchange for something you have that they like. If you like what they're giving you, accept the trade and you'll be wearing new threads in no time.
Zero dollars. We don't charge you a penny to use the site. The only cost to you comes with shipping (where applicable), and that's something settled between traders. Rehash Clothes has no posting fees, so you can Rehash as many items as you want and not have to worry about site usage fees. We do have a "Verified Rehasher" program where you pay a one-time $5 fee to confirm your mailing address by having a letter sent to your address with a confirmation code, but that's completely optional.
Our services are tailored to North Americans. Outside of North America it is possible to Rehash, however it will be increasingly difficult to trade with North Americans due to high shipping costs.
When you accept a trade with a user where you have agreed to trade by mail, you will need to provide your mailing address. We give this information to the other user and in return you receive theirs. No one else has access to this information.
Basic Usage
Yup. Try it. You can browse the website on mobile, take a photo, and upload right through your device. This makes Rehashing easier than ever.
In the user drop down menu up there on the top right of your screen there's an option that reads Settings. It'll let you modify everything from what appears on your profile, to your address, to your email notification preferences.
It's very simple. Find something you'd like to trade, take some photos of it (you can even do this completely through your mobile phone), and click the
Rehash Something button. Enter the information in the provided fields, add the photos you took, and you're Rehashing!Trading
In the past, we had you select things you wanted from someone and offer something in return, then send that offer. We've changed the system (for the better!) and now you simply find something you want, click the Request a Trade button when viewing the Rehash, and they'll be notified of what you want and prompted to select what they want from you in return. It's way cooler, and way easier.
Once you make someone an offer, or someone makes you an offer, you've entered a negotiation. What this means is you can add/remove more Rehashes until you're both satisfied with how the trade looks. If you go to the Trades section either through the Home area or the user dropdown on the top right, you'll be able to see a list of trades. After selecting a trade, you can see a full history of the negotiation.
That's because you're looking a an older trade; a trade that was made before this new system came out. In that case, you'll only be able to see what Rehashes where involved in the trade.
Click the Accept this Trade button while viewing the trade. The other trader can accept, continue negotiating, or cancel the trade. If they choose to continue negotiating, it will simply revoke your acceptance and let you continue adding/removing Rehashes. If they cancel, well, you know what that means. If they accept, then congratulations, you're now officially swapping! You'll both be prompted to ship your stuff and leave Karma.
Buddhism/Hinduism notwithstanding, Karma is how we measure someone's trustworthiness. After a trade has been officially completed (both shipped), you and the trader will have the option to rate each other's experiences. The user user cannot modify or delete what you wrote about them.
The Karma Rule: The Karma Rule: Whoever has had fewer positive trades ships first. If both have the same number of positive trades, the one with the lower Karma score ships first. All things being equal, we leave the decision to Rangen, the God of Randomness. In the olden days we decided this using trial by combat, but we lost a lot of good members that way.
Hopefully it's just the couriers who are taking too long in delivering. If it isn't, it's time to report some Bad Karma for the other user. We'll try to rectify the situation, but we make no guaranteed nor are we under any obligation to do so.
We highly encourage that.
Miscellaneous
Absolutely! We encourage swap party hosters to join Rehash and get their members to join Rehash. We'll even provide you with a special group with more options than regular groups, and your swappers will not only be able to post Rehashes to trade online, but they'll be also able to showcase items they'll take to your swap parties. Think of it like an online pre-swap party. In addition to that, you'll also receive site-wide promotion to members in your vicinity. By the way, like the rest of Rehash, it's free. Contact us directly at [email protected] for more information.
