It comes down to laziness > validity in the case of Javascript. I think we include and cache all the external files into all pages, like this one: window.onload=function(){ enableTooltips(“friendsTool”); enableTooltips(“myRehashes”); hideFriendEdit(); }; Which I believe is a part of all the pages, however not all pages have the “friendsTool” or “myRehashes” DIV so when JS tries to attach the event it generates a “document.getElementById(id) has no properties”. It doesn’t affect the usability, so whatever. An error is an error, so it’s returned on all browsers, the difference is IE is a lot more pervasive when it comes to JS errors it uses every opportunity to let you know of them even though IE is a horrendous browser with innumerable bugs.
