Since deleting old accounts is a bad idea, would it be possible to keep the account, but remove the rehashes from accounts that haven’t been active in X amount of time (i.e. 1 year)? Jefferson, Georgia |

yes, since I’m the one who caused the trouble before. I am interested to know how bad the admin girls got reamed, and if there is anything else to be done. (sorry bout that girls) Manzanola, CO |

I’m going to resurrect this thread because I think it’s a great idea. Probably half of my wish list is unobtainable because the user has not been on Rehash in a year or more. It’s very frustrating when I see something super cute, then learn that the person is long gone from Rehash! There are even users who have posted on their profiles that they are leaving Rehash forever but left their accounts active and dozens of Rehashes up … huh? Can’t anything be done about this? And just think of all the space it will free up on your server!! =] |

I think this is a great idea, maybe for someone who hasnt been active in say…6 months. I always see GREAT stuff on other people’s watchlist that I swap with a lot, and I’m excited…until I see that the person who OWNS the swap item hasnt actually been active for 7 months, 1 year, etc. Clearing out items would be great! That way we know the people are active(mostly) who have their items listed. Blanco, TX |

This is a great idea, actually the other trading sites I use already do that. They have a setting that just freezes your account if you don’t log in for a month. So if you return and log in, everything is reactivated instantly and your profile and listings are exactly as they left them, but while you’re gone your stuff is removed. It’s fantastic because everything that you see on those sites is available. I really hope they can do that here!!! :-D  YONKERS, NY |

About once a month or so I go through my watch list and see what items i am watching and when was the last time the user was on the site. If it has been a month or more I just quit watching their item. I like to keep my things clean. I will also delete and repost items that some rehashers are watchin but they have not been on the site for over a month. I just hate going through my watch list and see people watching my item(s) and basically they no longer exist. :) Fort Collins, Colorado |

I do the same thing. If I have an item on my wishlist, and I’ve emailed the person a few times, they have not been online for a month or more, I delete the item. I hate it just sitting there, taunting me of what I cannot swap for lol =P Blanco, TX |

Is there a way the admins can delete old users items, but not the user? I love similar items feature on the bottom of the classified, but some of them seem to be full of items that have been up for 1 to 2 years and I doubt the person will come back or still have the item. Jefferson, Georgia |

True. As a new admin, I’ll find out what we can do about it, and discuss it with Orlando :) Blanco, TX |

It’s funny, I never saw this thread. There is code in place to remove Rehashes older than X number of days, but I never had it enabled since at launch we wanted to keep all the Rehashes we could up and available. I’ll reevaluate this. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |

Ahh, I resurrected that other super old thread and didn’t even see this one ): I’d back this for sure. I’m not sure I want old rehashes to be deleted, though, since email notifications are sent whenever someone makes an offer. I’d lost interest in this site for a couple weeks until I got an email notif. Then I came bouncing right back! A couple weeks isn’t long, I know, but there’s a chance that rehasher may still want to get rid of that one thing after a year. I think some type of color code would be best. Maybe a yellow border can appear around any rehash made by someone who hasn’t logged in for 3 months? Then orange for 6 months, then red for a year? These colors can show up when we search for things, so we don’t have to bother clicking on items that could be a long shot. Mountain View, CA |

I loved the idea of code that clears out rehashes after X time. The only thing I would like to know is that if this is put in, can one of the admins or Orlando let us know how long X time is? Jefferson, Georgia |
