Let me level with you. Rehash wasn’t initially built with this size in mind. There are a lot of queries going on every second and it takes its load on the relatively low resources the server has. A rewrite of most of the site will fix this (temporarily, Rehash continues to grow) but the only true way to mitigate this sort of downtime problem is to scale the hardware to match the requirements.

In other words, those “ERROR!” pages you see from time to time are caused by the server not able to handle everything that’s going on. If you just see it once and can continue using the rest of the site fine, it’s not the case, but if every page is consistently displaying the error it’s the bigger issue I just told you about.

I won’t get into the jargon of how I remedy it, but many times I don’t immediately realize it happened. I also haven’t had the time to write some kind of notifying script to let me know it’s happening. If you see it happen and want it fixed, email me personally and I’ll do what I have to do since it only takes me a few seconds.
