The Rehash fashion design competition

No formal design training is needed to enter the Rehashclothes.com Design competition. To enter the competition, you must create an original design made from recycled items and clothing in three categories: Accessories, womenswear, and menswear. In addition to other prizes, the winning looks will be featured (professionally photographed, worn by a model) on the website's home page and a major advertising campaign.

Rules:

  1. Designer must create an original design from at least 60% recycled items and clothing (notions and thread not included).
  2. Designer must complete an application form and attach required images as specified below:
    * 1 image of recycled materials before creating the design (take a group one or as many as you need).
    * 1 full view front image of the final design.
    * 1 full view back image of the final design.
    * 1 full side view image of the final design.
    * 1-2 detailed view image of any detailing, embroidery or artwork on the final design (if applicable).
    * 1 image of your design sketches. (optional)

    Images must be in JPG or PNG format. For optional sketches, you may send a PDF file. Images of garments must be on a dressform, a human, or some sort of anthropomorphic form of your choice so we could see the detailing and fit of the garment. Images of accessories can get a little more creative, just make sure we can see the item clearly. Please name the files according to this format: YOURSCREENNAME_frontview.fileextension, YOURSCREENNAME_backview.fileextension, etc.
  3. Designer may only enter one (1) submission per category, but may submit an entry for all three categories. (Only one application is needed per designer).

  1. Your real name.
  2. Your Rehash screen name.
  3. Your mailing address. (We don't sell or show it to anyone, honest, read our privacy policy for more details.)
  4. Your contact phone number.
  5. Your website URL. (optional)
  6. Your design submission type: Accessory, Womenswear, Menswear. Select all that apply.
  7. Describe your design, what recycle items you used, if you obtained any of the items through Rehashing, and if so, which Rehasher you traded with.
  8. What inspired your design?
  9. Tell us about yourself. Be nice and keep it under 500 words. Try not to be sneaky and hyphenate-lots-of-words to create one word if you're the poetic type.
  10. Remember to attach images of the recycled items used to create the design before you use them and the 4-6 images of the final design as specified in the contest rules. Zip 'em up first, please.
  11. Rejoice.

The deadline for your submission(s) is JULY 1, 2008.

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of fashion industry judges and special guest judges. The panel will choose finalists in each category based on originality, aesthetics and wearability of designs. Finalists will be contacted on the week of July 14 (Bastille Day, woohoo!) with further instructions. Once selected, designs will be displayed on the Rehashclothes.com website for a final round of voting. The Rehash Community will then vote to select a winner in each category.
