Thanks you have no idea how much stuff there is and how hot, dirty and labor intensive these are. I kid you not that there are usually about 20 medium to large tables plus shelving units full and racks!

Sounds like a lot of work but at least it’s a great way to clear out! You don’t know how bad I want to throw all of my stuff in the trash lol I have so much to get rid of. To bad there is no consignment shops, donation places or anything close by me. I live next to my university so all I have is malls and shopping centers :(

Wow! I know my mom has a profile on here but doesn’t trade.

If it is an unusual item or new I use FeeBay and do an average between the lowest and highest price pretty much right in the middle. Clothes are usually $5 for a top or skirt and about $8 for pants or shoes mailing costs included.

On here i feel like a lot of people overvalue their items…its made me become more picky about my watchlist…im not going to trade a like new expensive formal dress for some used yoga pants… i dont really put “values” though however if its new i will put the cost…

The trade values I list on my items are how much I would expect to pay for the item in a thrift store like Savers…generally $1-3 for tops in good condition depending on brand, 50 cents for tops in meh condition, $4-5 for NWT tops depending on brand…about a dollar more in each category for bottoms and sweatshirts…$5 or less for shoes. I think the trade values I have listed on my items are fair, but I’d be curious to hear others’ opinions on them.

I take into account the retail value when it was new(if it isn’t now), what I paid for it, its overall condition, the value of the brand name, relivence of the item itself, what I would expect to pay for it at a consignment store or what it would sell for on eBay. I like a good deal as much as the next girl, but I’m certainly not going to sell a $200 dress for $10 if it’s still in perfect condition. No thrift store I know gets items like that and sells them for that cheap either.

I’m also asking because some people have it in their profiles that they how much to price their items for but, when I check I have found the same things on EBay for half or a quarter of what they have told me.

Okay, pretty much for the most part I do also maybe with a little bit of variation. But, what do you think of and do about people who say I know the value of my item and when you check it is considerably less?

I’m very similar to Annie, Paris and Liz. I take into account retail value, how many times it was worn and the condition of my item. If the item is in perfect condition I usually want something I know is of the same value or at least half. I always look up other peoples items for the retail price too so neither of us get cheated. I just want both traders to be happy with the swap. :)

Isabella, I generally won’t trade with those people unless they can be reasoned with. If they’ll cheat you one way they’ll cheat you another way. Also if you aren’t willing to part with something because it’s too valuable that’s fine, but don’t try to sell or trade it for more than it’s really worth. Just keep it and save us both the trouble.

^ Totally agree with Annie on all fronts.

There have been times when I have parted with multiple items for a single item even though I know it was horribly overvalued, but in those rare instances it honestly just depends on how much I really want the item and how willing I am to downsize. I have found that if you are willing to trade generously you will come across people that take advantage of you.

As far as how I value my items: condition and brand. How long did I wear it, did I ever wear it, how old is it, how much will this sell for on ebay.

Okay, then I think that gives me perspective. I believe I am a pretty generous and fair trader so, I think I will just let anyone know that ever tries that with me again that I know how much the item is worth and thanks but, no thanks I think I’ll pass.

Uh, I’m currently dealing with an over valuing situation. I hate that. :(

Sorry Callie, I know everyone wants to make the best deal they can but, I always feel more successful when when both parties have the “I made a good trade” feeling.

I always throw in freebies and I think that kind of makes up for when I am picky. I think I am pretty fair and straight forward about my things though. It just irks me when someone wants 5 things of mine for one thing. And normally to determine my freebies I stalk the other person’s watchlist and see what I have that is similar. =)
@Isabella: Considering that gorgeous dress you traded me for, you are definitely a generous and kind soul.

Thanks it was just so much fabric being a full length formal and hard to pack away I was happy to trade it away. Oh, and I never mind trading even three or more things for something I want and still throwing in freebies. I think what gets me is when some tell me “I know the value of my item, and it’s $100.” and then I search and find the same item for $25 or or $45 at the most (including all shipping costs) I feel in those cases they are being excessive and trying to take advantage and it makes me wonder who else, maybe everyone they are doing it to and if it works for them?

As for clothes, I use to do the value thing but I have been trying to clear out so I’m not currently doing it as much. I’m trying to trade multiples of my items for one or two things I really like at the moment. I’ve always liked that better because I hate a cramped room. As for electronics and gift cards, I do value them! Who wouldn’t?! :)
